Gun Control
Gun control are laws or policies that regulates the selling, owning, and usage of guns. Guns are sold and owned by a wide range of today’s population, but in order to own or sell guns you need certain licenses that are issued to people by the government. Furthermore they are distributed to people every day and some people aren’t qualified to own these guns, but somehow manage to get them, thus explaining why gun control should be further monitored by enforcing more tests and thorough background checks.
Guns are very dangerous and when in the wrong hands it can be a disaster. The gun law restrict guns to be owned by people under 18, but somehow these under aged people get ahold of firearms and they do irrational things such as school shooting or other violent activities. Under aged people shouldn’t be able to get guns because they are not mature enough to hold so much power.  Guns are dangerous and can be very harmful in the hands of children. It is stated that “about 1,500 children are hurt by guns every year”. Guns control laws should require all guns to be out of reach of children to ensure children don’t get hurt from firearm accidents. People with children that own guns need to be more cautious and take extra measures to ensure their children’s safety. Another issue is school shooting and other shooting incidents that occur from time to time. These people get guns and hurt innocent people for no reason and guns seem to be the reason why. Gun control should crack down more on gun trafficking so that these people don’t get ahold of guns. Children shouldn’t get hurt from guns because they are s young and have so much to live for. Guns seems to be easy to receive because so many people own them. In fact it says “40% of all U.S. homes have gun” and this shows that so many have guns in their possessions, but are all of them actually qualified to own a gun. Gun control need to make more test in order to get a license so that we can be sure that the people who get the license and are capable of owning a gun properly. Another thing is they need to issue mental or background checks on people before giving them a license or a gun. Some people aren’t mentally stable to possess a gun. Shooting are usually cause by people with bad intentions or people with some mental disorder. With a test for mental state or background check we can stop incidents like these from ever happening. Guns control don’t restrict guns sold in gun shows don’t require back ground checks in private transactions. Gun control don’t restrict criminals from obtaining guns. Gun control doing background checks are an invasion of privacy. Gun control allow guns to anyone due to second amendment. Gun control doesn’t prevent gun incidents education of guns do. Gun control is racist to certain races. Gun control gives too much to the government.

Gun control policies were made to allow us to bear firearms and it is also stated in the 2nd Amendment for us to bear arms. Guns are used by the people to protect their family and themselves, but others use them for alternative purposes to cause violence and inflict injuries to others. Guns are allowed to people only if they are issued a license that’s why the government needs to make it harder to get a license by giving out more test in order to get a license and to do background and mental test to see if a person is capable of having a firearm. Guns are supposed to be used to protect oneself or ones family so gun licenses that are harder to receive will make it so that it’s possible to protect the people and not be misused by others.

  1. I agree with your statement that guns are dangerous especially in the hands of the wrong people; however, if we start enforcing stricter gun laws, then people would start finding loopholes to get a gun license. Many individuals that would normally get a gun license would probably try to find another way out to avoid all the work. This could lead to more unregistered illegal weapons that would probably result in an increase of crime.

  2. The idea that gun control is getting out of hand is definitely a prospect that needs to be handled. Gun control is getting out of hand and because of it, people are needlessly dying and the impact of gun control licenses is fading. I agree that we need to enforce stricter gun control, but the end result could actually be worse than what is aimed for; guns could be so difficult to obtain that people might just give up on licenses. Stricter gun control would definitely be the end to illegal gun control, but it most likely won't decrease the decreases in population. :((

  3. The purpose of guns is to protect oneself and to protect the innocent. So many accidental gun related injuries occur every year and all of that could have been avoided. "The U.S. General Accounting Office has estimated that 31% of unintentional deaths caused by firearms might be prevented by the addition of two devices: a child-proof safety lock (8%) and a loading indicator (23%)"(SGL). Guns have Built in precautions to avoid unintentional gun injuries. Guns serve as a way for the people to express their rights and to protect themselves. "Regions and states with higher rates of gun ownership have significantly higher rates of homicide than states with lower rates of gun ownership"(SGL). States with more gun ownership seem to have more homicide incidents and with states with less guns have lower rates. These states with more guns have more issues with homicide than other states with less guns. The issue with accidental gun injuries/death happens to a lot of children with guns in their households. "A federal government study of unintentional shootings found that 8% of such shooting deaths resulted from shots fired by children under the age of six"(SGL). Guns impact our children because of how common these unintentional gun deaths occur. In the end, Guns related injuries occur so often, but guns with safety precautions such as "safety" and "loading indicators" can decrease the amount of unintentional gun injuries/death.

    1. I agree that America does have an increasing gun violence problem; however, that is not because of law abiding citizens carrying guns. Instead, it is because of crazy lunatics that commit homicide. We should not make millions of law abiding citizens go through all the trouble of background checks and tests just because of a few hundred maniacs. This would be a considerable solution if it could actually decrease the crime rate, but killers can get their guns and other weapons from many other sources. If the legal way is out then they would look for illegal weapons. I doubt that these laws can decrease crime rate; however, they will increase the sales of illegal weapons.

    2. Gun control laws are managed by the government and new laws are added to improve the gun control system. "Gun-related murders in Connecticut drop an estimated 40% since law requiring background checks and gun safety training". The requirement to have a background check and gun safety training has been shown to decrease the murder rate. Background checks has been shown to be a successful way of decreasing murders, and it has been shown to lower gun trafficking. "The federal background check system is an effective mechanism that prevents prohibited purchasers, such as convicted felons, the dangerously mentally ill and domestic abusers from accessing guns". This system is set up to not allow dangerous criminals get access to various weapons and keep guns out of the wrong hands. “Yet glaring loopholes in our laws allow prohibited individuals to access firearms through unlicensed dealers, or “private sellers.” By closing these loopholes and requiring background checks at gun shows and online, we can ensure that guns stay out of the hands of those prohibited by federal law". Guns can be sold to criminals and murderers through private dealers, and this loophole can be closed if background checks are required during the selling of guns in private deals. This will help put an end to gun trafficking and lower gun related accidents.

    3. I most certainly agree with the fact that enforcing background checks would prevent convicted criminals from having access to firearms; however, I disagree with the statement that we can close all the loopholes. Yes, we can close some of the loopholes but not all of them. This might decrease many small crimes since numerous people that commit them acquire their guns legally, but big crimes like terrorist shootings cannot be stopped through this. Big terrorist groups provide their people with their own illegal weapons so I doubt we can stop this by enforcing background checks. Nevertheless, we can still decrease the number of small crimes which in turn can save many lives.
